
John Schatzel, LICSW, serves as the Clinical Director for Meta Addiction Treatment. John has diverse clinical experience which includes working with youth, adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, families, groups, and geriatric populations. John has provided services on both an inpatient and outpatient level of care including within substance abuse treatment. John is an expert witness with the Massachusetts court system where he conducts evaluations in regard to substance abuse and mental health for outside organizations and the judicial system. John received his training from the Massachusetts Mental Health Center, a Harvard Medical School training facility, during his graduate work. John has extensive training in DBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and special expertise in the evaluation and treatment of sexually dangerous persons. John has been a grant-funded researcher on several published articles including his work in the recent publication “Desistance from Sexual Offending: Narratives of Retirement, Regulation, and Recovery,” a Palgrave published work. Throughout his 10 years in the field of mental health care, he has been able to work with the following clinical populations: Major Mental Illness, Substance Abuse, Co-Occurring Disorders, Personality Disorders, Mood Disorders, Phobic Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Trauma, Eating Disorders, Problematic Sexual Behavior, and Disorders of Identity.
